How do I book an appointment?

GP appointments

• We offer a daily telephone triage, with same day telephone consultations bookable by contacting the surgery by telephone between the hours of 08.30am-10.30am every weekday morning.  The reception team member will ask you for some information on your presenting problem before allocating your call to a GP
• Calls can be prioritised by the GP's in terms of clinical need but will always be returned as promptly as possible throughout the day  
• Following a telephone consultation, the GP can arrange a face-to-face appointment if required
• Similarly, relevant tests & investigations may be arranged after discussion with the GP 
• The appointments line may be closed earlier than 10.30am if on the day demand is high
• Afternoon calls are reserved for urgent / emergency calls only
• There are a number of pre-bookable telephone and face-to-face appointments for non-urgent problems.  Depending on availability, these can be booked up to a fortnight in advance by speaking with a member of the reception team at any time
• If you require a translator, the receptionist will arrange this for you. This can be both telephone and face to face.
• If you require a sign language interpreter we will arrange this for your appointments.

Nurse Appointments are all pre-bookable face to face consultations.  Please contact reception.

Baby Clinic

• The Health Visitor/Public Health Nurses/GP are here on Tuesday afternoon 2pm-4pm to vaccinate all our babies and pre-school children.  An appointment can be made via reception.

Home Visits

• On occasion patients may need a home visit.  Please phone the surgery before 10:30am & the reception team member will ask for information regards the presenting problem & a GP will call you back to discuss
• Same day home visits are not done routinely unless deemed urgent
• It is often more appropriate to assess patients in the Health Centre & where feasible & safe this is the GP's preference.

Treatment Room

• A fully equipped treatment room operates from 8.30am – 12:30pm & 1.30pm – 4.30 Monday to Friday
• Appointments are booked via reception
• All tests, bloods, urine etc as requested by the doctor can be carried out including ECG's.

"Did Not Attend" / DNA's

• Patients who fail to attend for appointments will delay treatment and care for other patients who may need to see a Doctor or Nurse
• It is our policy to write to all patients who fail to attend on a regular basis & patients who regularly fail to keep appointments without cancelling may then be asked to leave the Practice
• Appointments in the Surgery are at a premium and we ask that patients consider the needs of others and book suitable appointments
• Patients MUST contact reception staff to inform them if an appointment is not longer required so that the appointment can be allocated to another patient
• Doctors and Nurses do not always inform reception staff if patients cancel appointments during a home visit or telephone consultation, and it is the patients responsibility to ensure that any unrequired future appointments are cancelled.
